Top 5 Ways to Stay Busy While Social Distancing

Ok so let’s be real, this COVID-19 thing is scary. It’s not like a hurricane for us coastal folks where we know a timeline. We know the hurricane will hit on a certain day and we will have a few days of clean up then it’s back to business as usual. We don’t know how long this will last. All I seem to know is it’s going to (kinda already is) getting worse before it gets better. What i can say is it’s important to take social distancing seriously. 79% of people are carriers of this virus. 79%!!! In order to flatten the curve, we must stay home so that we can slow down the spread of this virus. If we slow the spread, this will allow our healthcare professionals to have enough of supplies to care for those who truly need medical attention. I’m sure you’ve heard this a thousand times, but it’s really as simple as that. I hope that you and your loved ones will take it seriously.

Now believe me, I am as antsy as the next person, but I created a few suggestions to keep you from going stir crazy. Also for me to remind myself every time I get the itch to want to be out and about.

Read a book– I have been quite the book worm lately and so in this quarantine, when I’m not working, I will be reading one of the many books I’ve been hoping to get to.

Spring Clean– You know the pantry or the closet that has been a victim of the “Shov that Shiz” method, well now’s the time to tackle it. I’m embarrassed enough to say I have quite a few areas that are in desperate need of organization. What better time than social distancing time?

Get some fresh air- Try to get outside without being in crowds. Take a walk around your neighborhood. Do some gardening to work on that green thumb. Take your work outside and get some Vitamin D! It will totally help avoiding cabin fever.

Facetime Friends– Virtual happy hours are the new happy hour. Ok maybe not really, but this is the best we got for now. I get that the weather has been beautiful and it would be perfect to grab a glass of wine with the girl, but it’s a no. For anyone who doesn’t know, you can do a group Facetime. So pour a glass and start that group Facetime and make the best of it.

Shop Small- Lots of local boutiques and restaurants will be struggling due to the lack of foot traffic. Do you part by ordering only for local delivery or curbside pick up. Order food or buy a gift certificate to use later. Remember, this is their livelihood and it will take a while to bounce back from this.

Stay well friends and feel free to share some of the ways you are keeping busy during quarantine time!
