Fashion Life New Year winter style

I’m Back!

You guys are probably wondering where the heck I went! Been quite a minute since I’ve done a blog posts. I definitely didn’t mean to ghost you all, but life got way busy there for a while. I mentioned a bit of it in my stories about 2019 on Instagram, but I will break it down here.

Last year was a busy one. My husband and I did quite a bit of traveling in the back half of the year and lots of friends and family visiting as well. I started a new job after 8 years at my previous one, so of course that took some adjusting. That’s keeping it pretty brief about our year. It was a fun one, but had lots on my plate that meant that writing blog posts didn’t fall high on the priority list. But thankfully, it’s a new year and life has settled down, what better time to come back and reflect on what I’ve learned and my goals for 2020?

Self Care– I know it sounds like such a broken record, “self care is important”, but I realized how much it is for me, at least. While self care looks differently for everyone, for me it’s alone time. I realized as much as I love a good Sunday Funday with friends is as much as I need a day to just do for me. Sometimes that means not showering all day and binge watching Law and Order episodes that I’ve seen a thousand times or reading. It just gives me time to chill. I can just have a day to nothing and reset.

It’s okay to take a pass!– Along with the self care note- I realized sometimes I just have to say no to things. I pushed myself pretty hard this past year trying to do it all. I can’t tell you how many times I said that I wished there were 3 of me so I could get everything done I wanted and needed to. Let me tell you my “all” looks differently than others. I admire the ladies’ out there juggling a family, a job, a house, and finding time to do what they enjoy. It is far more than my “all”, but it made me realize- sometimes I have to just say “Sorry I can’t” and be okay with it. I may have a large slice of FOMO, but I would be thankful I gave myself a break in the end.

Be Organized– Towards the end of last year, I was so busy I kept forgetting things. As much as the calendar on my phone is great, it just wasn’t cutting it for me. It was so unlike me that I knew I needed to get it together! I decided to take it back to my days in school and get a planner. Also getting organized at home. I completely “Marie Kondo’ed” some cabinets that we clearly practiced just shoving that shiz away for far too long. Let me tell you-by organizing 6 cabinets in our built ins, it definitely brought me the joy Ms. Kondo talks about. I see lots of organizing comin’ in hot in the coming weeks

2019 was a good year, but I’ve got a really good feeling about 2020! What are your goals for 2020?

xo,

Lindsay
